Gambling Support BC
Gambling Support BC (GSBC) is a provincially administered program. It is part of the Independent Gambling Control Office, the body responsible for regulating the gambling industry in British Columbia. GSBC provides recommendations to support respsonsible gambling initiatives within the industry. GSBC also undertakes province-wide initiatives, specifically prevalance studies, to understand the impacts of the gambling industry on people who engage with it. In contrast to the rest of the IGCO, GSBC is primarily concerned with ensuring that there are support structures in place to help those experiencing negative impacts from gambling. GSBC operates the Gambling Support Line and provides short-term free counselling services to those in need of support in dealing with these impacts. Both the Gambling Support Line and counselling services are designed to help individuals connect with longer-term services to ensure that individuals are left alone in confronting the effects of gambling on their lives.
